How to Gain Muscle

There are many different strategies for gaining and building muscle and some specific muscle building techniques that focus on various areas of the body. Depending on what region you are working on, you will determine, maybe in conjunction with a personal fitness trainer, which exercise routine is best to help you gain muscle.

Some Basic Muscle Building Techniques

Let’s start with the biceps and triceps. These as we all know are the main muscles in the upper arm, and most guys love to have big well defined muscles in this area. There are many exercises that will focus purely on these muscles, and if this is the area you are working on, you might like to try the typical pull ups and push ups to concentrate on them. As well as this muscle group though, you want to be exercising others areas like the chest, neck and shoulders as part of your upper body muscle.

Enthusiasm and motivation will be required for you to achieve the results you want. You need to drive yourself and stick with your plan as this is the only way you will succeed. Great muscle building techniques are one thing, but they will not perform without your input and your commitment, even when you would rather be doing something else.

Generally you will need to analyze your food intake as well. Your diet should consist of 6 smaller meals each day, packed full of goodness and nutrition. The goodness in the food will fuel your muscle growth, and the exercises you do will tone your muscles. Each has a vital part to play in your plan, and both need full commitment from you. There is also another vital component in your plan and that is rest.

Not many places will address the issue of rest. Certainly not to the extent it should be addressed. It is important to rest the body after a workout, and at least 20-30 minutes should be taken in between sets of exercises. This gives the body time to adjust to the stress that it has just gone through, and rejuvenate where needed. Overdoing any form of exercise can lead to serious problems so always be careful to rest.

Drinking water when you are thirsty is far better than drinking other types of drink. Water cleanses the body and in some cases neutralizes impurities in your system. It is a good idea to keep water on hand whenever you are performing an exercise routine. Water also has the ability to make you feel content rather than hungry, so if you feel that you need to snack between meals, try a glass of water instead.

Good cardio exercise for all regions of the body would involve 30 minutes of brisk walking, jogging and/or cycling & swimming. This combination of exercise is good as an overall wellness routine. Add to this routine the targeted specific exercises for the areas you want to enhance even more, and again you have a well rounded exercise program that should be generating results in a very short space of time.
